
Making Your Bathroom Actually Warm (Without the Wait)
Let’s be honest: stepping out of a hot shower into a freezing bathroom is the worst part of the morning. You want heat, and you want it right now. That’s why we use short-wave infrared. Most heaters try to warm up all the air in the room first, which takes forever. Infrared is different. It sends out heat that hits you and your towel directly. You flip the switch, and you feel it instantly. No waiting around shivering in a towel.
The Gear: Keeping Things Dry and Hot
Bathrooms are brutal on electronics. Between the steam and the splashes, things can go south quickly. To stop that, we wrap the heating elements in IP-rated seals. It basically keeps the moisture away from the electrics so you don’t deal with shorts or burnt-out bulbs. Inside, there’s a tungsten filament tucked into a quartz tube. We even add a special coating to the glass. This does two things: it helps your body soak up more of the heat and keeps the light from being blinding while you’re trying to brush your teeth.
Making it “Smart”
The cool part is when you connect these to your smart home. We use heavy-duty relays or dimmers to bridge the heater with your app. Now, here’s the tricky bit. These lamps pull a lot of power the second they kick on. If you use a cheap relay, the contacts can actually weld themselves shut. We build ours to handle that initial surge, so you can just tap a button on your phone while you’re still in bed and walk into a toasted bathroom.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Instant heat is great, but it’s power-hungry. Before you go all-in, check your wiring. You need a gauge that can handle the load, or you’ll see the voltage drop. And if you’re putting in a few of these units, make sure your circuit breaker is up to the task. Otherwise, you’ll be spending your morning resetting the breaker in the garage.
