
Why Your Bathroom Heater Shouldn’t Blind You
Most infrared heaters just blast a random mix of radiation into the room. If you’ve ever used one, you know the deal: that harsh, blinding glare from the halogen or quartz bulb. Now, imagine that hitting a baby’s eyes during bath time. Not great. We figured there’s a better way. Instead of just letting the light go wild, we tweak the output. We push the energy away from that annoying blue-light range and shift it into long-wave infrared. Keeping eyes safe This isn’t some magic trick; it’s just basic physics. We use special coatings on the glass or specific filaments to block out the high-frequency light. By cutting out that blue light peak, we stop the retina from getting stressed. The result? You get all the cozy, skin-warming heat without feeling like you’re staring into a spotlight. We keep the focus between 700nm and 1000nm because that’s where your body actually “feels” the warmth the most. The trade-off: Size vs. Glow Here’s the thing: you can’t have it all. To get a soft glow without losing the heat, we have to play with the wattage and the surface area. If you cram too many watts into a tiny filament, it gets too hot, and that blinding light comes right back. To stop that from happening, we use larger heating elements. It means the heater takes up a bit more space, but it’s a fair trade. You just can’t have a tiny, low-profile lamp that’s incredibly hot but barely glows. One of those things has to give. Getting it installed We made these to fit right into standard ceiling mounts, so swapping them out is pretty easy. We also beefed up the wiring because heating and cooling cycles can be tough on electronics. Just a heads-up: double-check your circuit breaker. These pull a bit more power during that first warm-up phase, and you don’t want your power tripping just as you’re getting the bath ready.
